Over the last 10 years I've been expanding the range of music I've included in my DJ sets inspired by the new DJ technologies that have become available in that time. For years I have loved what I describe as "UK bass music" (dubstep, breakbeat, grime, funky and all its other names) and love to combine it with all other forms of techno in my DJ sets, especially when I play in the UK. No matter what I play, it still retains the flow, the thread of techno. This creates much greater dynamics, drama, tension and release in a set. Exposing this full range to select, forward thinking audiences has proved successful and I now feel it's time to bring this to more and more people. Until now there has only been a 128kbps version available that had been subjected to overzealous mastering. Surgeon - Void @ The Shelter, Shanghai, China 16th May 2009

Void nights are at the centre of the largely expat Shanghai techno scene. There were techno fans from all over the world at The Shelter that night, including a couple of enthusiastic Brummies (who I played The House Of God track for). Thanks to Nat, Cammy and the whole Void crew for being amazing hosts on my first visit to Shanghai. Now available to download in the Media > Audio section.

Coming soon: Surgeon - Hello Oslo - CBX015 Friday 4th July 2008 was an unusually hot day in Oslo, a city better equipped for cold Norwegian winters. The soundcheck at the venue, Fabrikken went well (though the club staff seemed a little shocked by the amount of sub bass) As the doors opened and the club was starting to fill, the temperature was already rising. Everything went according to plan. The 1 hour A/V live set melted the crowd into a sweaty organism, merging with the speakers and walls. This release is four parts from the A/V live set as it happened that night in Oslo. Live interpretations of classic Surgeon tracks. Surgeon at Crossing The Parallel 3, Berlin Germany 26th July 2008. 26th July 2008 was a hot and humid day in Berlin. I was at the club quite a while before I played; hanging out with old friends from Berlin drinking lots of red wine ;-) My set was after two EBM live acts and wasn't sure how it would flow with me playing after them, but Adam's plan for the lineup worked well. I only remembered to start recording about 16 minutes into the set. It's not a 'clever' set, a lot of old + new tracks but it was a lot of fun and felt really good on the night..... and that's what really counts. Thanks to Pete, Erin, Adam and everyone who came. Now available to download in the Media > Audio section.
